The drum circle started with a group of 18-22 children from the Brentwood YMCA's Kids Clubhouse childcare program. We began with a wellness exercise, some stretching and shaking out the giggles, then moved on to a hilarious attempt at a shaker pass. Next the circle played their names on their drums and percussion instruments. We continued through the HR protocol and ended with another wellness exercise before we dismissed.
One of the staff observers pointed out that a few of the children usually do not participate in anything but how they enjoyed the drumming.
