Louis-Daniel 's 21 years career has crossed musical genres, focusing on Brazilian, Funk and Popular playing the role of both drummer and percussionist. In 1994 he further honed his drumming and percussion skills while attending the University of Québec in Montréal and in 1998 he became the first percussionist ever in Québec to get a Bachelor's degree in Latin and Popular Percussion.
Louis-Daniel has toured, performed or done studio sessions in Canada, the USA and Europe for artists including Lynda Lemay, Boogie Wonder Band, Monica Paulo Ramos, Claude Leveillé, André Gagnon and performed more than 2 300 shows for Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion Tour.
On top of performing for more than 5 Million people during the Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion tour, his performances were seen on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, MusiquePlus (French Canadian MTV), the famous Royal Albert Hall in London and was seen on many international TV shows.
Between 1994 and 2000 he discovered the power and the energy of percussion ensembles and drum circle type activities. During those years he started conducting and facilitating percussion ensembles for both University of Quebec in Montreal and the University of Montreal. He also started giving percussion workshops for kids at the elementary level in Montreal.
During his international tour with Dralion he was facilitating drum circle for a Cirque du Soleil community organization named Cirque du Monde. He then discovered the full potential of drum circles by giving disadvantaged kids and “children of the war” a window to express themselves through the joy of drumming.
In 2007 he was hired by the Jeunesses Musicales du Canada to perform in a touring percussion show named “Rhythm & Stomp” for kids in schools throughout Canada. He also developed a new percussion show for schools named the “Rhythm Box”. “Rhythm Box” is a touring activity in Canada in the form of a drum circle for kids in school environments.
In to 2008 he received a grant from Jeunesses Musicales du Canada and Laurentian Bank for his excellent work, show development and performances with kids in 2007-2008.
In 2008 he became an official endorsee and International Drum Circle Facilitator for one the biggest company in the percussion industry, REMO Inc.
In 2008 he founded the company Baratanga and is now providing drum circle activities for corporations, community, schools and special events.
