Kurry Seymour received a B.M.and M.M. from West Virginia University with an emphasis on muticultural music and arts. While attending WVU, Kurry had the opportunity to study steel drumming with the creator of the modern steel drum, Dr. Ellie Manette, Gamelan with Dr. Mantle Hood, African Drum and Dancing with Dr. Paschal Younge and Japanese Taiko Drumming with Dr. Tim Peterman. Additional study has been with She-e-Wu, Tim Adams, Mark Thurston and Paul Rennick.

In higher education, he taught at West Virginia University, Alderson Broaddus College in West Virginia and worked as the founding Director of Percussion Studies and Assistant Director of Bands at Coastal Carolina University from 2003-2010 where he received a "distinguished professor" award in 2008. Kurry John Seymour currently resides in Summerville, SC and works in the Dorchester District 2 School District. Within the District he serves as a Multicultural Music specialist, and Music Educator. His primary focus is on building productive and purposeful communities/ensembles that reach people in need by way of their exposure to diversity, multicultural music, and strong life/leadership skills.
