Taku Hirano has been referred to by rock legend Mick Fleetwood as “The Secret Weapon" for good reason, with training in concert percussion, drumset, and traditional Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, West African, Indian and Japanese styles and instruments.

His clients span practically every genre, with world tours for Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, John Mayer, Bette Midler, Stevie Nicks, Lionel Richie, Isaac Hayes, Oscar-winning Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman and Cirque du Soleil. Live credits also include Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Steven Tyler, Willie Nelson, Annie Lennox, Usher, Pharrell, Shakira, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Chaka Khan, Andrea Bocelli, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Recording credits include Dr. Dre, Fleetwood Mac, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, The Temptations, Ziggy Marley, Josh Groban, Lionel Richie, and on major motion picture scores and soundtracks. He also acted as a consultant to Trent Reznor for Nine Inch Nails’ “Lights In The Sky” world tour.

Taku regularly contributes to Modern Drummer and DRUM! Magazines, has been featured in national campaigns for Guitar Center, and was in Origin Magazine’s 2015 list of Top 100 Creatives. He recently toured on Bette Midler's “Divine Intervention” world tour, and performed on the 2016 GRAMMY Awards.
